NFL Gets Deep with Snoop Dogg and DeSean Jackson Discussing the Life and Impact of Nipsey Hussle

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson pays tribute to the tragically short life and enduring legacy of Nipsey Hussle. Jackson returns home to L.A. to explore the impact of his friend Nipsey, the late rapper and activist who inspired a social and entrepreneurial awakening in some of the city's most historically downtrodden communities.

“One thing my grandmother told me…she said, ‘When you go your work is gone speak for you; louder than your mouth, louder than anything you can do,’ and I believe that man’s work is continually speaking for him, which is a beautiful situation, because I know that’s what his spirit was pushing for.”

-Snoop Dogg

In this heartfelt recollection of the life and legacy of Nipsey Hussle, I couldn’t help but get emotional all over again Seems like yesterday that the media outlets and social platforms were buzzing with the news of his assassination, right on Slauson Ave. in the Crenshaw neighborhood of South Central Los Angeles, CA, the home and heart of everything that meant something to him. His spirit echoes still and his tragic, untimely death was arguably the biggest loss the hip-hop community since Tupac in ‘96. It seems like there was this major energy shift that happened and I know I’m not the only one who senses it.

I love how honest and vulnerable this discourse was and I appreciate the way in which it was presented. Despite the hurt that people are still healing from, there was still an underlying message of looking towards the future with hope and optimism. It was a belief that we have the blueprint, as well as the courage, to create a better future for ourselves, for our communities, and for generations to come, and that resonated with me. I sincerely hope it’s a message that continues to spread like wildfire.
